The law goes nuts again...

Ok so a 15 year old girl who took sexually explicit pictures of herself and distributed them to people she met online has been charged with sexual abuse of children, and possession and dissemination of child pornography, proving once again that in certain places people are not willing or not able to use logic when interpreting a law.
I do not know the exact wording of the child pornography laws, and its one in the morning and I have class tomorrow so I am not go around looking for the exact wording, but I'm fairly certain that these charges are an abomination.
The charge of sexual abuse of children. Getting naked and taking pictures of yourself is not sexual abuse. If it was, then masturbation could be said to violate the same laws, and if that happened, the uprising of young people would be the largest in the history of the world.
The charge of possession of child pornography. Is having naked baby pictures of yourself or your family's children possession of child pornography?
The charge of dissemination of child pornography is the most viable of the three, but I still think it's shady. Would they come down on you with copyright laws for passing out copies of a song or book you wrote for free?
I do not support what this girl did, but I believe it is an issue that her family must address. This is like charging someone who attempted suicide and failed with attempted murder. I mean, technically, the charge fits. Logically, it doesn't.
