Thank God hunters finally have the advantage...

So I'm wasting some time online and I come across this:

http://www.sportsmansguide.com/cb/cb.asp?a=161971

For those of you too lazy to check out the link, it is a page that is offering a nice grenade launcher for sale. Normally, this would not catch my eye, since large explosive launchers are not what I normally associate myself with. Except that this is for sale on SPORTSMANSGUIDE.COM!

What sportsman needs a grenade launcher? Have the deer evolved and become made of titanium? Have the rabbits started shooting back? Are the pheasants dropping nukes out of the sky and illuminating the continental northwest?

I am personally not a hunter, but I do not fault those that enjoy the "sport," which I put in quotes because I think for it to be a sport, both parties must know they are playing. I am, however, against the new hunting technology. If you're going to hunt, be a real man (or woman) and do it with traditional weapons, not some laser guided rifle that could take out a fly from 500 yards. And certainly do it without a grenade launcher!

As a hunter, if you are using these things, why not just go buy a dog, take it home and shoot it? It's got about the same chance of survival.

Check the hunting regulations for your state, I would bet that the only "Modern Tech" that is allowed for a non disabled hunter is the Rifle Scope. Most states(maybe all) don't allow laser scopes or grenade launchers.

BTW have you ever been hunting or fishing? It is a sport, if we hunt or fish in the wild the "animals" have the upper hand. I have made many a hunting or fishing trip and come home with nothing.

As I mentioned in the article, I have not been hunting, nor do I plan to. And while I'm sure the laws are quite reasonable concerning the technology that is allowed, that is not to say some hunters don't do illegal things. If you, as a hunter, go out and do things the way they are supposed to be done, namely with a gun that has no modern amenities, and with no other artificial help (including pheromones and any manmade scent that would attract the animals), I have absolutely no problem with you hunting.

Also, in defense of my view that hunting is not a sport, I believe both parties, that is the hunter and the animal, should be aware that they are playing. This is clearly not so. The hunter is playing. The animal is trying very hard to not die.

To reduce any misunderstanding, I would like to point out that I am pretty sure the grenade launcher for sale is a historic relic and not in working condition, and that I do not think any hunter would use a grenade launcher to hunt. However, I do not believe a grenade launcher has any business on a sportsmen's web site.

A lot of sportsmen are also collectors. Probably why it's advertised there.

I do hunt from time to time, and don't even use a scope on my rifle. I always figured if you need a scope, maybe you should learn how to shoot.

I wouldn't mind having a nice grenade launcher myself. Not for hunting, but just for some of the morons driving on the roads today.

Especially the ones who don't understand the Nuance of the One Way Street. (shameless plug I'm sorry)
