And for some reason Newt Gingrich...
Lost among the daily political badgering and GWB's Freudian assurance of an all-conscripted military, there are certain lesser issues that go unnoticed by the nation.
Let's begin with health insurance. I have for a long time attempted to find a proper analogy to represent the deplorable state of health insurance in the United States. I mean, having the best doctors and the top technology is all fine and good, but fairly useless if I need to donate a kidney to pay for the broken arm I happen to want fixed. Talented a wordsmith as I am, however, the proper metaphor for health insurance has continuously eluded me, much like material wealth and affection from women. A Godsend has appeared, though, in the oddest of forms: The state of Indiana.
In the state of Indiana, a recent news poll has found that 76% of straight Indiana residents would enter into gay marriage to get better health benefits (http://hoosiergazette.com/News/Oct2004/news003.htm).
This is fantastic! A health care system that actually drives people to homosexuality, if only for the administrative benefits. I don't know about you, but if I was a Republican, I'd be attempting to reform this as quickly as possible.
But perhaps I only tease Republicans because I'm jealous, as there are so many reasons to be. Aside from the obvious material wealth, lets not forget that Republicans have much more satisfying sex.

Now to California, where a school has suspended two students for wanting to display the American flag in their senior pictures. If this is not the stupidest thing in the world, there had better be a hippoppotamus trying to slip into ballet slippers somewhere! To add more to this experience, Newt Gingrich has decided to get involved, intervening on the students' behalf. I applaud Mr. Gingrich for getting involved to try to rectify a clearly asinine decision, although I hope this particular high school does not become the newest victim of the term "anti-American." I would suggest the much less loaded term "stupid," as I hate to think what may happen to this school if some of Mr. Gingrich's Fox News Channel colleagues get a hold of the story.

On a fairly useless note, here's something for any of you that happen to be undecided about the candidates, the issues, but that do know one thing: You love pot.

Until next time.
